How do I restore a Threema Safe backup?
Threema Safe is available in Threema for Android and Threema for iOS. Threema for Windows Phone will add support for Threema Safe with an upcoming update.
Threema Safe backups can be restored in the setup wizard. If there is already a Threema ID set up on your device, delete it first:
- In Threema’s main screen, open the side drawer by tapping the three horizontal bars in the top left corner
- Tap “My Threema ID”
- Tap “Delete ID”
- In Threema’s main view, select the “My ID” tab
- Scroll to the bottom of the “My ID” screen, and tap on “Delete ID”
In the setup wizard, select “Restore from backup”, and follow the on-screen instructions.
If you don’t remember your Threema ID, you can tap “Forgot your ID?” to retrieve it in case you have linked it to a phone number or email address.
If you don’t remember the password of your Threema Safe backup, there is no way to restore it.
