Threema Work 2.0 for Desktop

The beta software below is provided for testing purposes and is still being developed. The desktop app is generally stable; however, you may occasionally encounter issues. It’s available for Threema Work for iOS and the regular Threema version for iOS only (support for Android devices is planned). For more details, please refer to this FAQ entry.

Linux

We distribute the beta version of Threema Work 2.0 for desktop through Flatpak. Make sure you have set up Flatpak for your distribution.

Run the following commands in your terminal:

$ flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://dl.flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo
$ flatpak install --from https://releases.threema.ch/flatpak/threema-desktop/ch.threema.threema-work-desktop.flatpakref

Note: Update the Threema Work beta version for desktop through your software manager or by running flatpak update in your terminal.

For security reasons, Threema Work Beta doesn’t have full access to your files, which is why “drag and drop” is restricted in some cases. To allow full access, please run the following command:

$ flatpak override ch.threema.threema-work-desktop --filesystem=host

Improvements:

  • Improved linking wizard
  • Many improvements for image messages
  • Add context menu to the image viewer
  • Localized and optimized date and time display

Fixes:

  • Proper handling of Threema Broadcast groups
  • When pressing tab in the chat list, mentions aren't highlighted anymore

  • Fix text color when quoting image messages
  • Fix border around image in image viewer

  • Add full support for image messages: sending, receiving and in-app display
  • Add German translations

  • Fix performance bug when loading contact list or chat list
  • Fix bug that occurred during device linking with older Threema installations, related to server group validation
  • Disable built-in Electron DNS resolver to improve privacy
  • Various UI fixes
